Central Jersey Driver Sentenced For Hit-Run Crash That Killed Pedestrian On Walker: Prosecutor

A 30-year-old woman from Perth Amboy has been sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison in a hit-run crash in which a pedestrian on a walker was killed, authorities said.

Hansel Farrier-Romero, 30, was sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 16 in connection with the 2022 fatal crash in Perth Amboy, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Lawrence Cattano of the Perth Amboy Police Department.

Rocco Chirichillo, 72, also of Perth Amboy, was crossing the roadway using a walker at the intersection of Convery and Pfeiffer boulevards at about 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 7, 2022, when the fatal crash occurred, they said.

Farrier-Romero fled the scene of the crash, they said.

Farrier-Romero was arrested later that day and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death, they said.
